Inner Network Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Inner Network ("Inner Network," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our business and professional networking application and related services (collectively, the "App"). By creating an account or otherwise using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

This Privacy Policy is intended to comply with applicable United States privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA"), and similar state privacy laws in states such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and Utah. It applies to users located in the United States. If we expand the App to other regions, we will update this Policy to address applicable local requirements.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information in connection with your use of the App:

a. Information You Provide Directly

• Account information: name, email address, phone number, password, and job title or role.
• Professional profile information: company name, industry, professional experience, certifications, and profile photo.
• Contact and connection information: business contacts you add, invite, or connect with within the App.
• Communications: messages, posts, comments, and other content you submit through the App, including messages you send to us for support.
• Event responses: your reply when we ask you to confirm or review an event you attended (see "Push notifications" below).
• Payment information: if the App offers paid features, billing name, address, and payment details necessary to process transactions.

b. Information Collected Automatically

• Device and usage data: IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, and general usage activity (such as pages viewed, features used, and time spent in the App).
• Precise location: with your permission ("While Using the App"), your device's GPS location. Used to show you nearby events and sort them by distance, and, only when you actively check in to an event you're attending, to confirm you're at the event's venue (within roughly 150 meters) before recording your attendance. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your device's Settings; doing so only limits distance-based sorting and event check-in, nothing else in the App requires it.
• Push notifications: with your permission, we send push notifications to your device, including event reminders and a prompt sent after an event you attended asking you to confirm or review it. Sending these requires a device push token, which we store for as long as notifications remain enabled. If you respond to a post-event prompt, that response is logged as a lighter-weight confirmation of your attendance, separate from and in addition to any GPS-based check-in confirmation described above. You can disable push notifications at any time in your device's Settings; doing so does not affect any other App functionality.
• Log data: crash reports, diagnostic data, and technical error logs used to maintain and improve the App.

c. Information from Other Sources

If another user connects with you, references you, or adds you as a contact within the App, we may receive limited information about you (such as your name or company) from that user.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and maintain your account and professional profile.
• Provide core App functionality, including connecting you with other professionals, contractors, developers, architects, and property managers.
• Facilitate messaging and communication between users.
• Confirm event attendance, through location-based check-in and/or your response to a post-event prompt.
• Generate suggested content, such as an event-attendance caption, that you may choose to share on other platforms (this content is only shared if and when you choose to post it yourself; the App does not post on your behalf).
• Send you push notifications you've opted into, such as event reminders and post-event prompts.
• Process payments, if applicable.
• Maintain the security, integrity, and proper functioning of the App.
• Respond to customer support requests and communicate with you about your account.
• Analyze usage trends to improve the App's features and performance.
• Comply with applicable legal obligations.

3. How We Share Your Information

Inner Network does not sell your personal information, and we do not share your information with third-party advertisers, marketers, or data brokers.

We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Other users of the App: certain profile and professional information (such as your name, company, and title, based on what you've chosen to show on your card in your profile settings) is visible to every other signed-in member, not only your direct connections. This also includes endorsements ("vouches") other members give you, and, unless you turn this off in your privacy settings, your attendance at events you've marked yourself as going to or added to your calendar. This open visibility is a deliberate part of how the App helps members evaluate who to connect with.
• Anyone with a shared link: from your Account settings, you can generate a QR code / shareable link to your digital business card, and any event can be shared as a link. Opening one of these links — even by someone who isn't a member and isn't signed in — shows a read-only version of your card (only the fields you've chosen to make visible) or the event's details. These pages are excluded from search engine indexing, and the links themselves aren't guessable or listed anywhere; they only reach whoever you (or someone you shared it with) sends them to.
• Service providers: we share information with a small number of vendors who perform services on our behalf and under our instruction, solely to operate the App:
  • Supabase — hosts our database, file storage, and handles authentication; effectively all information described in Section 1 passes through Supabase's infrastructure.
  • Apple, Google, and LinkedIn — if you choose to sign in using one of these providers, they share your name, email address, and profile picture with us as part of that sign-in.
  • Resend — sends transactional emails on our behalf (e.g. account and moderation-related notifications); receives your email address and name for that purpose only.
  • Sentry — receives crash and error diagnostic data (such as device type, OS version, and the technical details of what the App was doing when an error occurred) so we can identify and fix bugs. This does not include your messages, contacts, or profile content.
  • OpenStreetMap Nominatim — used to convert event venue addresses into map coordinates so events can be shown on a map and checked in to. Receives event venue addresses only, never a member's personal information.
  • Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — used to deliver push notifications to your device; receives your device's push token only.
  These providers are contractually restricted from using your information for any purpose other than providing their service to us.
• Legal and safety reasons: we may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or if necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Inner Network, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers: if Inner Network is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy or a policy at least as protective.

Outside of these circumstances, we do not disclose your personal information to third parties without your consent.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App's services. If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

5. Your Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, the CCPA provides you with certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

• Know what personal information we have collected about you and how it has been used and shared.
• Request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
• Correct inaccurate personal information.
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (Note: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising).
• Be free from discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

Residents of other states with applicable privacy laws (such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, or Utah) may have similar rights. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 9 below. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by applicable law.

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for business and professional use and is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. Creating an account requires affirmatively confirming you are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child, we will take steps to delete it.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other reasonable means before the changes take effect. The "Effective Date" at the top of this Policy indicates when it was last revised.
